Basement Jaxx
Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe are the UK duo who make up this funky techno music band. When Basement Jaxx put out the controversial music video for "Where's Your Head At," a video featuring monkey's with human faces instead of monkey faces, they suddenly gained world-wide attention. They are currently praised for their expert remixes.
Royksopp
This techno duo may be from frigid Norway, but their sound is hot. Torbjorn Brundtland and Svein Berge are best known for the songs "Eple," "Night Out" and "Poor Leno." They are also known for their excellent remixes.
Aphex Twin
Richard D. James is heralded as one of the most creative techno artists. Using computer-generated sounds and erratic beats, Aphex Twin has bucked trends, insisting on setting his own style.
Fatboy Slim
Quentin Norman Cook has about ten different names, but Fatboy Slim is the name under which he produced his most well-known techno dance collection, titled You've Come a Long Way, Baby. On this CD he produced "Rockerfella Skank," which gained instant popularity. Along with Skank, his songs "Right Here, Right Now" and "Praise You" were played in dance clubs all over the world, thrusting him into the techno dance tune spotlight.
The Prodigy
The Prodigy is perhaps the most popular mainstream techno band, with the album The Fat of the Land being a crossover success amongst techno lovers and pop fans. This group has managed to keep its cult-like following among hardcore techno music lovers while expanding into mainstream music by using catchy beats and chanting lyrics.
