Another form of harmonica tab notation uses numbers with a letter next to it. The tab may contain a number and letter like 4B, followed by 8D. This would mean blow on the 4th hole, and then draw on the 8th hole.

Tabs do not always represent a song's rhythm very well. In harmonica tabs, rhythm and note succession are represented by notes that are closer together. It is often helpful to begin by using tabs of harmonica tunes with lyrics. This will allow you to match the tab's rhythmic layout with the natural lyrical breaks and cadences of the song.
