2009 has been an exciting year for some and a tragic year for others in the dating and romance world, and celebrities have not been immune. From alleged affairs to breaking up and moving on, 2009 has been a bumpy ride.
It's been a year of love and happiness for some celebrities,with romance blossoming between both perfect, and unlikely matches.
- Russell Simmons & Noemie Lenoir : The hip-hop music mogul first began dating the French lingerie model officially in May of 2009. There is a 22 year age difference between the couple, but they both have young children from past relationships, that bring them together on common ground. Russell is openly smitten by his new love, and posts comments about her on Twitter daily.
- Guy Ritchie & Elle Macpherson : Guy Ritchie, who had just recently ended his eight year marriage with pop-diva, Madonna, definitely felt romance in the air in March of 2009. The couple has been seen wining and dining in public at such swank eateries as the Notting Hill Brassierie.
- Jamie Kennedy & Jennifer Love-Hewitt : An unlikely romance emerged out of nowhere between friends, according to Jamie Kennedy, comedian and star of the Scream franchise of horror flicks. He reports that not only are him and Jennifer dating, but they are beyond in love. Jennifer doesn't hide that she shares this sentiment, publicly.
- Eddie Cibrian & LeAnn Rimes : In early 2009, the young couple were spotted together acting in a more than friendly way, but they both insisted they were friends that were happy with their current spouses. However, weeks later both had filed for divorce from their partners. They are now happily in love.
- Hayden Panettiere & Harry Morton : The 20 year old star of the hit NBC show, Heroes has been openly dating Lindsay Lohan's ex, Harry Morton since August of 2009.
2009 hasn't only been about hot hook ups and steamy affairs, it's also been one wrought with heartache.
- Jermaine Dupri & Janet Jackson : This R&B power couple have decided to officially call it quits as of July of 2009.
- Mel Gibson & Robyn Moore : In mid April of 2009, Mel Gibson's wife of 28 years filed for divorce. After years of keeping the details of their relationship private, Mel Gibson gave a public announcement after consulting his church.
- Chris Brown & Rihanna : March of 2009 hallmarked the violent end of the two musical superstars' relationship. After Chris Brown reportedly punched and bit Rihanna, the stars called it quits.
- Matthew & Tina Knowles : The famous parents of songbird Beyonce Knowles filed for divorce in mid 2009 after being married since 1980.
- Jake Gyllenhaal & Reese Witherspoon : After maintaining a rather private relationship for some time, the Hollywood couple came public with their affection towards one another in June of 2009, However, in early December Reese ended the romance with Jake.
