Botox risks are no small matter to consider. Though a relatively safe procedure, there are some rather serious potential problems you could face if you choose to have Botox injected into your face. Botulism
Botox is the brand name for botulinum toxin type A. The purified toxin is created by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium, which also happens to be the same bacterium responsible for the potentially deadly condition, botulism. Improper preparation or use of Botox can, in rare cases, cause botulism.

Botulism is a very serious condition where, among other things, your muscles are blocked from receiving nerve signals. This, in turn, can cause difficulty with breathing, speaking, swallowing and other normal functions. Botulism is treatable and rarely fatal, but far from an enjoyable experience. If nothing else, it can mean an extended stay in the hospital.

Adverse interactions
Botox is not the kind of treatment just anyone can get. There are several medications, herbal treatments, general supplements and even antibiotics that cannot be mixed with Botox. It’s vital to visit a doctor and have your medical history and condition checked before having any Botox treatment.

General health
Botox injections can have small side effects, such as bruising and swelling. But it also puts certain groups of people at a higher health risk. Any women who may be pregnant, is pregnant or is breastfeeding should never undergo a Botox treatment. Any woman planning on becoming pregnant before the treatment would fully wear off should also never undergo a Botox treatment.

Anyone who has infected sore should be careful about getting Botox. If the infected sore is in the area that would be treated, then they need to refrain from undergoing any Botox treatments until the wound has fully healed.
