Homemade Organic Deodorant Recipe
Ingredients You Will Need:
1/2 cup shea butter
1/2 cup baking soda
4 tablespoons corn starch
4 tablespoons cocoa butter
4 vitamin E capsules
10 drops essential oil, either tea tree oil or sage essential oil (just one, not both)
In a mixing bowl, combine the baking soda and corn starch and mix until well combined. In another mixing bowl, combine the cocoa butter and shea butter and mix well. Break open the four vitamin E capsules and add the oil from inside to the cocoa and shea butter mix and mix well. Add your essential oil drops and mix again. Add the dry ingredients to the butter and oil mixture and mix well using a wooden spoon, making sure to break up any clumps by pressing the back of the spoon against the side of the bowl. Scrape the deodorant into a pretty jar and put the cap on. You will apply this deodorant with your fingers, like a paste. A thin layer will suffice.
Your choice of essential oils will depend on your scent preference but also on your desired functionality of the deodorant. The baking soda will already work to eliminate body odor and the corn starch will aid in absorption of sweat. You'll want to use sage if you are concerned about inhibiting sweat production, and tea tree oil if you are most concerned about eliminating the smell of body odor. if you do not like either of these scents, consider using an essential oil simply for scent alone. The baking soda is going to do a fine job fighting body odor on its own, so don't feel you have to use the tea tree oil or sage if you do not like these scents.
Organic Floral Scent Spray Deodorant Recipe
Ingredients You Will Need:
2 teaspoons vodka
8 drops geranium essential oil
6 drops cypress essential oil
1/2 cup witch hazel
4 tablespoons cornflower water
4 tablespoons orange flower water
Combine these ingredients together in a spray bottle. Shake vigorously before using. Simply wash underarms, dry and spray a mist covering armpit area. Allow to dry completely before dressing. Both the cypress and the geranium essential oils will kill bacteria and the witch hazel will inhibit sweat production and sooth irritation from shaving. If you like these scents, you can use more essential oils; the amounts listed here are for the faint-hearted, since these oils are quite powerful.
