Haircut Ideas for Long Hair that Don't Come Up Short

Long Hair Style Ideas

If you need haircut ideas for long hair, remember that some styles look better on certain people. Though you don’t want to limit your choices, you do want to know a little about what looks good on you. Always ask your hair stylist for help with picking what will and will not work with your face.

There are a few classic long hair styles that seem to look good on almost anyone. Before picking what general style you like, though, you need to consider how much hair styling time you have each morning.  Once you match the right style and the right time investment, you’ll discover the perfect haircut idea that doesn’t come up short.

Long Shag
The long shag haircut works for most face shapes and requires a medium amount of upkeep. It can be done with or without bangs, but does need regular trimming. It’s called a shag haircut because it looks a little shaggy.

The ends of your hair should be cut with an uneven line for a shag style. There should be some light layering, with hair tapering up slightly around the face. A little hairspray or gel and a touch of blow-drying is all you need to style your shag cut.

Side-Swept With Bangs
A side swept haircut for long hair usually involves creating bangs. The bangs should be cut at an angle, sloping down towards one ear. This is a fairly quick hairstyle to manage, but it does need regular and frequent trimming to keep that side swept line.

The ends of your hair look best if they follow the asymmetrical lines of your side swept bangs. Some light layering or razor cut ends usually look good. A brush and a little hairspray is all you need for styling each morning.

Long Bob
A long bob haircut takes some time to style each morning, but requires a minimal amount of trimming. A bob can be done with or without bangs, but usually looks much better with straight hair.

The ends of your hair should be cut straight across in an even and solid line. Avoid layering or tapering and try to have every strand of hair the same length. You’ll need to use curlers or a curling iron to curl the very ends of your hair slightly inward. You’ll need some hairspray to keep the curl in the ends and a little silk serum to keep the rest of your hair flat.

Natural Taper
The natural taper cut is great for long, curly hair. It requires almost no time to style in the morning, but does need some regular trimming to keep its shape. Long, relaxed bangs work with the style, or no bangs at all.

You want your hair cut in a relaxed style with light layering. Your hair should be slightly shorter in the front and the ends should be cut in an oval arc. Just brush or pick your hair in the morning, then add some frizz serum and you’re done.
