First and foremost, cleansing and moisturizing your skin regularly is key. Cleanse your skin with a gentle facial cleanser twice daily. If you have sensitive skin, use a facial cleanser that is formulated specially for sensitive skin. One of the two times you wash your face should always be before bed. Letting make-up, dirt, grime and oils sit on your face overnight is a sure way to breakout your skin. During the night, your pores will open and close, allowing makeup and pollutants to become trapped in the pores. Each and every time you cleanse your face, use a clean towel to pat it dry, and apply an oil-free moisturizer. Do not rub across our skin when drying it, as it can dry out your skin.
Wear sunscreen everyday. A facial moisturizer with sunscreen mixed in is one of your greatest defenses against the harmful ultraviolet rays put out by the sun. Sun damage can age you at a rapid pace. The sun creates wrinkles, dark spots and even skin cancer. Even in the winter, when you wouldn't normally think of using sunscreen, damage can still happen, so use it year round as an essential part of your skincare routine.
Do not touch your face unless you are cleaning it. If you have a habit of rubbing your face throughout the day, imagine what is on your hands when you do it. All of that is now on your face. Break the habit, and keep yourself from touching your face if at all possible, especially when eating greasy or sugary foods.
Eat foods rich in vitamin E, or take a vitamin E supplement to help keep your skin's glow elasticity and ability to heal. This is very important, especially if you have problems with acne and other blemishes like blackheads or cysts.
