Homemade Makeup Remover Using Powdered Milk

Milk offers the body a variety of health benefits, both inside and out. Milk is a common ingredient in an all-natural beauty regimen. The same skin benefits found in the liquid variety are also in powdered milk. For a natural solution to clean your face, try making a homemade makeup remover using powdered milk.

Making the remover

Mixing the homemade makeup remover is simple. The ingredients are water and powdered milk. Start with a clean container (preferably a jar) that has a secure lid. Add 1/2 cup water and five to six tablespoons (75 to 90 g) of powdered milk to the container. Secure the lid and shake well.

The creamy mixture should be the consistency of yogurt. You can add more water or powdered milk as needed to reach the desired thickness and texture. If the remover is not blending well, use a spoon to stir the cream thoroughly.

Application

Using a clean cloth that has been dampened in warm water, apply the remover to your face. Gently remove the makeup with the cloth using circular motions. The homemade makeup remover is safe for removing eye makeup, but avoid getting it inside your eyes.

Once all of the makeup has been gently removed, rinse your face with warm water. You can then allow your face to air dry, allowing the skin to soak in the moisture, or gently dry your face and apply your favorite moisturizer.

Storage

The makeup remover recipe makes enough for at least three cleanings. Store any excess in the refrigerator and use within one month. For a one-time use, mix together approximately 1/3 cup of water with 3 tablespoons (45 g) of powdered milk. For a larger supply, double the recipe.

Removal tips

For thick or stubborn makeup, such as waterproof mascara, apply olive oil to a cotton ball and gently rub on the area. Allow the olive to soak on the skin for two to three minutes to break down the makeup. Follow this process with the homemade makeup remover using powdered milk for a thorough cleaning.
