Lose Cellulite With These Cellulite Removal Tips

By: Jennifer Maughan

You can't lose cellulite per se, but cellulite removal is an option for those seeking to sculpt their bodies without the traditional solutions of diet or exercise. Cellulite is fat just under the skin that puts pressure on the connective tissues, creating multiple dimples, generally in the rear, abdomen and thighs. While there are various treatments to reduce the appearance of cellulite, cellulite removal is never permanent. This is because cellulite continues to develop throughout a person's life, and even if it is removed at some time, it can come back.

Laser Cellulite Removal
This procedure includes focusing laser light onto leg fat cells that cause cellulite. It breaks down the cellulite cell membrane, reducing the dimpling of the skin. Over time, approximately 10 to 12 treatments, the connective tissues that go around the fat cells will continue to break down. This non-surgical option targets small segments of the body, making the treatment more effective. When paired with liposuction, cellulite removal is quite effective.

Liposuction
Alone, liposuction can actually increase the look of cellulite, but when paired with other options, it can remove cellulite from the body. Liposuction is a procedure in which subcutaneous fat cells are sucked out from the body with a long slender tube. This reduces the collections of fat that create the dimpled look. Other skin tightening techniques are then used to smooth out and stretch the skin to create a smooth and toned look.

Endermologie
While this procedure doesn't actually remove cellulite, many claim that it greatly reduces the look of cellulite. The process involves special rollers that press an area of the body. Suction is applied to pull skin taught for smooth skin. It takes anywhere from 15 to 25 treatments of Endermologie to see cellulite-free results; sessions must continue to keep skin looking smooth.

Cellulite Creams
There are many products on the market that claim to reduce the cellulite look from thighs, buttocks and stomach. The creams are usually full of caffeine, among other products, to increase blood flow to the affected areas and takes moisture away from the skin. There are varying claims as to how well such creams work, but scientifically there is no proof that confirms these methods are effective.
