Education

Most general cosmetology schools require anywhere from nine months to two years of classes. Training
Cosmetology training is simply hands-on experience for your chosen field of cosmetology. It gives you an opportunity to work in a type of apprenticeship program. You get to work in a real-life setting with experienced co-workers who can help guide you.
Different locations have different specifications on exactly how many training hours you need before you can get a cosmetology license. However, regardless if you're in the US or UK, you will likely need some training under your belt.
License
To obtain a cosmetology license, you must first apply for the license with your state's Board of Cosmetology or equivalent.
