Vehicle Restoration Projects Ideas

Vehicle restoration projects aren't always about tracking down original parts and doing a complete factory-condition rehab. Sometimes you have a vehicle that does not need a full car restoration, but simply a bit of dressing up. There are several things you can do to your vehicle to dress it and give it a new look.

  • If the vehicle is a convertible and the top or the back window is getting shabby, replace the top and the window.
  • Give your vehicle some new "shoes." You can give a vehicle a new look just by changing the rim design. If you do not want to buy new rims and your tires are newer, clean and shine the rims. You can even paint the rims to give them a different look.
  • Add chrome accessories to the engine compartment. If your vehicle is carbureted, you can add a new chrome air cleaner. For fuel-injected vehicles, upgrade to a K&N filter system; these look much better than the black box that was standard equipment. Add chrome breathers to the valve covers if your vehicle uses breathers.
  • Add wire looms and wire covers to the wiring and spark plug wires in your vehicle. The looms and the covers come in many different colors.
  • If you are happy with the current paint job, but your vehicle is all one color, add some pinstripes. You can have a professional paint the pinstripes on, or you can purchase stick-on striping at an auto parts store.
  • If the seats look worn or are torn and you are not ready to purchase new seats, purchase some tight-fitting seat covers. This will hide the worn seats and give the interior a splash of color.
  • Add light covers and rain guards on newer cars. Both of these items give a vehicle a restored look.
