Chocolate Sheet Cake Recipe

Ingredients You Will Need:
Cake:
2 cups sugar (or Splenda)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup butter
?" cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 eggs
½ cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Frosting:
¼ cup butter
3 tablespoons buttermilk
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
2 ¼ cups confectioners' sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla
½ cup chopped pecans

Sheet Cake
Bring the butter, cocoa and water to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture and remove from heat. In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda and salt. Combine the dry mixture with the boiled mixture. Add in the eggs, vanilla and buttermilk with an electric mixer. Pour the batter into a greased sheet cake pan (could be 15x10x1 pan) and bake for 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees.

To prepare your frosting, combine your buttermilk, cocoa powder and butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Once it's brought to a boil, remove it from the heat. Stir in your remaining ingredients, adding the pecans last. Pour your frosting over the cake, using a spatula to cover all of the areas.

Variations to Your Chocolate Texas Sheet Cake
If you want a plain vanilla cake, follow the same instructions but do not include the cocoa powder. Also, for a chocolate mocha frosting, add ?" cup ground coffee beans to the recipe above.
