Coffee Cake Recipes: Cowboy Coffee Cake

Ingredients You Will Need:
2 ½ cups flour
2 cups brown sugar
½ teaspoon salt
?" cup shortening
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon soda
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 beaten eggs
1 cup sour milk

Mix flour, sugar, salt and shortening until crumbly. Reserve ½ cup. To remaining crumbs, add baking powder, soda and spices. Mix well. Add milk and eggs and mix. Pour into two greased and floured layer cake pans and top with reserve crumbs. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm.

Note: To sour milk, add one teaspoon of vinegar or lemon juice to one cup of milk and let stand for five minutes.
