Sweet Strawberry Cake Recipes

Regardless of what it is, strawberries are one of the tastiest treats any child or adult could ask for. Fortunately for true strawberry fans, they also work perfectly in many desserts. From ice creams and sorbets to shortcakes and crepes, the addition of strawberries makes already delicious desserts even better.

Strawberry Cake
Ingredients You Will Need:

¾ cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
3 cups sifted cake flour
2 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 ½ cups pureed strawberries, strained
1 teaspoon lemon zest
2 cups your favorite cream cheese frosting
Fresh strawberries for garnish

With a hand mixer in a large bowl, beat together the butter and sugar until it lightens in color. While beating, add the eggs one at a time. Combine the flour and baking powder in a separate bowl, and add the mixture to the bowl with the butter, sugar and eggs. Beat until incorporated. Add the strawberry puree and lemon zest, and beat until well combined. Pour the mixture into two greased 9-inch cake pans, and bake in a 350 degree Fahrenheit oven for about half an hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven, and allow to cool before assembling the cake.

Remove the cakes from their pans, and spread your desired amount of frosting on top of each. Place one on top of the other, and frost the sides. Garnish with strawberries, and serve with a big glass of milk.

Easy Strawberry Shortcake
Ingredients You Will Need:

2 cups strawberries, tops removed and cut into thirds
1 cup sugar
5 leaves mint, finely chopped
1 pound store-bought shortcake, ripped into bite-size pieces
2 cups whipped cream

Pour the strawberries and sugar in a bowl, stir to combine and leave to sit for about an hour. After an hour, stir in the mint. Spread half of the shortcake evenly between four wine glasses. Do the same with half of the strawberries and half of the whipped cream. Repeat with the second half of each item. Prepare immediately before serving, or the cake will become soggy.
