Peanut butter chocolate chip cookies are the result of a match made in heaven. The rich, creamy texture of the peanut butter goes perfectly with the sweetness of the chocolate chips.
Recipe for Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients You Will Need:
1 cup butter (softened)
½ cup creamy or chunky peanut butter (your choice)
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 ½ cup flour
1 large egg
1 ¾ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Start by combining the butter, peanut butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Use an electric mixer, and mix until creamy. In a separate bowl, combine the baking soda and flour. Combine the two bowls and add in the egg. Beat until the dough becomes thick. Last of all, stir in the chocolate chips.
On a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper, drop about a tablespoon of dough for each cookie. Be sure to keep them two inches apart from one another. Bake in a preheated oven at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes. When they're finished, place cookies on a wire baking rack, and let cool for another five minutes before serving.
Variations
You can also make chocolate cookies with just a hint of peanut butter. Take the original recipe, and add ¾ of a cup of unsweetened cocoa powder. They turn out as chocolate cookies with peanut butter, a simple twist to the peanut butter chocolate chip recipe. Also, instead of using a portion of creamy or crunchy peanut butter, you could substitute it with two cups of peanut butter chips.
Switch Up Your Chocolate
You can switch up the semi-sweet chocolate chips for milk chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips or even white chocolate chips, whichever flavor you prefer.
