Easy Sugar Cookies Recipe
Ingredients You Will Need:
4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup vegetable shortening
1 egg
1 cup white sugar
1 ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¾ cup corn syrup
½ teaspoon salt
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
½ teaspoon almond extract
Oil or butter to grease the cookie sheet
Take a large mixing bowl and pour in the flour and salt. Set the bowl aside for later use.
Take the shortening and beat in a mixer until it is fluffy in texture. Add the sugar and corn syrup to this mixture. Beat until it is blended together.
Add the egg, vanilla and almond extract to the mixture and beat. Add the cinnamon and continue to beat.
Take the flour mixture and add it into the shortening mixture two teaspoons at a time. Do this slowly.
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for two hours.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Take out the dough and roll it so that it's between ? and ¼ inch thick on the sheet. The sheet should be dusted with flour. You can then take cookie cutters and cut out the shape of your sugar cookies. If you don't have cookie cutters, feel free to use a knife to make the shapes.
Place the cookies on greased cookie sheets and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. The sugar cookies are ready once the edges look brown and the cookie is an overall golden color.
