Japanese Grilled Asparagus Recipe

Many people think of asparagus as a steamed vegetable, but it likes the heat of the grill as well. It's not difficult to learn how to grill asparagus. There are a variety of grilled asparagus recipes available to cooks, like this recipe with a Japanese twist.

When purchasing asparagus for grilling, look for thicker asparagus. You can peel the asparagus with a vegetable peeler if you want a dish that is a bit more tender.

Ingredients You Will Need:
1 pound asparagus, trimmed
2 tablespoons oil (Sesame oil is a good choice)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 cloves minced garlic
Salt and pepper (optional)
Sesame seeds (optional)

Preheat grill to high. Skewer four asparagus spears together, using two skewers. It will look like a raft.

Combine remaining ingredients, except sesame seeds. Brush the mixture on the asparagus.

Place the asparagus on the grill. Cook and turn until exterior is slightly brown.

Serves four.
