Ingredients You Will Need:
Coffee beans - the amount is up to you, how strong you want the coffee and how many cups you anticipate drinking
1 egg
A dash of salt
6-8 cups of water
Before you begin making the coffee, be sure to wash the egg. You want to rid the shell of bacterias, such as salmonella.
Next, grind some coffee beans and crack the washed egg into the grinds. You want the shell to be crushed first and then added to the grinds. Add a dash of salt and cold water to the mixture. This should make a thick paste.
Boil 6 to 8 cups of water. The amount of water you use depends upon how strong you want the coffee to be and how many people you are serving or how many cups of coffee you anticipate having.
With the water boiling, you will now add the egg and coffee mixture. Once this mixture is fully added, turn down the heat. You want enough heat on so that the water stays hot but is not boiling. As the mixture settles, the shell fragments, pieces of egg and coffee grinds should settle into the bottom of the pot. You can filter the egg coffee if you want to rid yourself of the fragments. Your egg coffee should be a golden color. You can now add the nutmeg and cardamom. Some people like to top their egg coffee with whipped cream.
