Making Non-Alcoholic Punch

By: Helen Polaski

For your next party, give designated drivers and those who don't drink a treat with a delicious non-alcoholic punch. Your punch doesn't have to be exactly the same as your regular punch, minus the booze, nor does it have to be boring. Good non-alcoholic fruit punch recipes rely on good robust aromas and tangy flavors.

Prepping the Punch
Add sliced fruit, fruit balls or studded fruit to the mix. Use long cinnamon sticks as swizzle sticks. Use a carved-out pumpkin as the punch bowl. Serve punch in cups carved out of edible gourds. Garnish your punch with ice cubes or ice rings. Freeze edible flowers into a ring mold, or freeze only one of the fruit juices. Use a contrasting color in the frozen ring, such as a frozen orange juice ring in a red punch.

Use ice to your advantage. The use of ice cubes can do one of two things. It can help chill a drink or it can dilute a drink. If your intention is to do both, make sure your punch is quite concentrated or that you plan on adding additional juice as the evening wears on.

Non-Alcoholic Cranberry Punch
Ingredients You Will Need
4 cups cranberry juice
1 ½ cups sugar
5 cups pineapple juice
3 cups orange juice
2 tablespoons almond extract
1 liter ginger ale
4 lemons, thickly sliced
3 baby limes, thickly sliced
Whole cloves
Mint leaves

Chill all ingredients. Slice each lemon into five thick slices, and stud the rind with about six cloves per slice. Slice one lime into thick slices. Use the remaining limes whole. Circle each lime with mint leaves by securing the leaves with cloves. Set the fruit aside.

Combine the first six ingredients in the punch bowl. Float the whole limes in the punch, and add about 10 slices of lemon and lime to the bowl. Use the remainder as glass garnishes.

The following recipe is perfect for Christmas. Not only do the colors fit the holiday, but the flavor is also heavenly, and you'll love the effervescence.
