Baked Brie Recipe

By: Aaron Baer Harsha

A baked brie recipe makes an elegant addition to any dinner party or get-together. Brie cheese is rich and smooth with a gooey center, playing perfectly off the crispy puff pastry it is baked in. It is ideal when you're struggling to throw appetizers together in the hours before a party. It can be prepared easily and, with so many potential fillings and accompaniments, the possibilities are endless.

Since brie is so rich, it's good to try to balance it with either a sweet or salty filling, or both.

Baked Brie With Pepper Jelly
Ingredients You Will Need:
2 sheets store-bought puff pastry
1 8-inch wheel brie cheese
1 cup pepper jelly
2 egg yolks, beaten

Roll out one sheet of the puff pastry so that, when the brie is placed on top, it extends out a few inches in all directions. Cut the other piece into a circle the same size as the bottom of the brie. Spread the pepper jelly over the top of the brie, and drape the first sheet of puff pastry over it. Crimp together the edges of the top and bottom sheets of puff pastry. Cut off any excess, and brush all over with the egg yolks. Place in a 400 degree Fahrenheit oven for about 20 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the brie is gooey.

Honey Glazed Baked Brie With Prosciutto
Ingredients You Will Need:
2 sheets store-bought puff pastry
1 8-inch wheel brie cheese
6 thin slices prosciutto
¼ cup honey
3 sprigs thyme, leaves stripped

Prepare the puff pastry the same way as above. Layer the prosciutto on top of the brie, and drape the puff pastry on top. Place on the bottom circle of puff pastry, and crimp the edges together. Cut off any excess, and brush the top with the honey. If the honey is too thick, put it in the microwave for a few seconds to thin it out. This will make spreading easier. Sprinkle the thyme leaves on top, and bake in a 400 degree Fahrenheit oven for about 20 minutes. Serve immediately.

Baked Stuffed Brie With Maple Glaze
Ingredients You Will Need:
2 sheets store-bought puff pastry
1 8-inch wheel brie cheese
¼ cup raisins
¼ cup dried cranberries
¼ cup slivered almonds
2 tablespoons brown sugar
¼ cup maple syrup

Prepare the puff pastry the same way as above. Run a sharp knife under hot water for about a minute, which will make working with the cheese easier. Then cut the brie in half horizontally. Evenly spread the raisins, cranberries, almonds and brown sugar on the bottom half, and replace the top. Drape the top sheet of puff pastry on top, and put the whole thing on the bottom circle. Crimp them together, and cut off any excess. Brush the maple syrup all over, and put in a 400 degree Fahrenheit oven for about 20 minutes. Serve immediately.
