To prepare a hash brown omelet recipe, make sure the hash browns are cooked through before adding them to the egg mixture. Also, make sure the hash browns are not greasy, as that will hurt the omelet's texture. While an omelet maker can be used for a perfect omelet every time, in order to make an omelet of this size, you'll have to make a skillet omelet.
Hash Brown Delight
Ingredients You Will Need:
1 cup shredded potatoes
1 tablespoon chopped onions
Non-stick vegetable spray
¼ cup milk
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ cup ham
½ cup mushrooms
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Cook the shredded potatoes and onions in a large skillet until golden brown on both sides, turning only once. Set the skillet aside, and prepare a second skillet.
Combine the eggs and milk. Salt and pepper the egg mixture, and then pour the eggs into a skillet that's been coated with olive oil. Cook until the eggs are set along the edge. Add the ham and mushrooms together on one side of the omelet. Spoon the hash browns and a half cup of the cheese over the ham and mushroom mix. Flip one side of the omelet over onto itself. As the cheese melts, it will keep the omelet from flipping back over. Don't worry if there is so much in the omelet that it doesn't close. It's always fun to get a sneak peek. Place the omelet on a plate, sprinkle with the remaining cheese, and serve immediately.
Press the hot hash browns into a pan to make a crust. Pour the egg mixture into the hash brown shell, and then add all of the remaining ingredients. Place in the microwave on regular heat for about three or four minutes or until done.
However, do not leave the mixture in the microwave long enough to allow the eggs and cheese to brown or burn. Because microwaves cook differently, please know how your own microwave works. Don't take chances. Check after each minute.
