Italian classics like lasagna are traditionally made with meat. Fortunately, there are many variations such as a seafood lasagna recipe that combines Italian flavors and sauce with fresh seafood. Seafood lasagna is a bit difficult to make and assemble but will be well worth it once you can serve it to eager guests.
Seafood Lasagna Recipe
Ingredients You Will Need:
15 Oven ready lasagna noodles
" cup shrimp
" cup crab meat (or king crab meat)
" cup scallops
½ cup butter
3 cloves garlic, chopped
½ cup flour
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups skim milk
2 cups chicken broth
Salt, pepper to taste
Fresh basil
2 cups mozzarella cheese
½ cup onion, chopped
½ cup dry red wine
1 cup cottage cheese
The lasagna will need to be created in two parts: first by preparing the sauce and then by assembling the dish.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. For the sauce, add your butter, garlic, flour and salt to a saucepan. Add the milk, broth and white wine. If you don't want the sauce to have a thick consistency and keep it more broth-based, exclude the milk. Bring the mixture to a boil. Stir in the cheese, onions, basil, salt and pepper and lower the heat.
Next, line your pan with some of your homemade sauce. Place an uncooked lasagna noodle on the bottom and top with sauce. Repeat with another layer, this time adding in your seafood. Repeat the layers. After placing the last lasagna noodle on top, drizzle with sauce and sprinkle with some parmesan cheese.
Bake the lasagna for about 35 minutes. Once it's finished, let it cool for about 15 to 20 minutes before serving.
Tips For Your Seafood Lasagna
You can either use fresh seafood or experiment with canned crab meat. Since the dish is baked in the oven, you might not be able to tell the difference.
You can also try the recipe with mushrooms. Add about five cups of finely chopped mushrooms to the saucepan when you're making your sauce.
A spinach lasagna recipe is a simple dish to whip up for vegetarians and veggie lovers alike. To cut your time in half, you could use a prepared pasta sauce from the store, or make your own quick marinara sauce. |
