Pasta Carbonara Sauce Recipe
Ingredients You Will Need:
½ lb. bacon
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 fresh cloves of garlic
2 large eggs, beaten
Salt
Pepper
½ cup Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
Fresh parsley
1 lb. pasta of your choosing, cooked al dente
How to Make Carbonara Sauce
Cook your spaghetti or pasta of choice (al dente) and set aside.
In a sauté or sauce pan, cook the bacon until it is crispy. Take the bacon off of the pan and dab it with paper towels to remove excess grease and oil.
In the same pan, sauté chopped cloves of garlic, salt and pepper for one to three minutes. Add your pasta into the sauté pan and mix with the bacon, garlic and seasonings.
In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs together. Take the pasta off of the heat and mix with the eggs. Add salt and pepper to taste and top with the Parmigiano-Reggiano. Your carbonara sauce will be juicy and cheesy and ready to serve immediately.
Recreating Your Spaghetti Carbonara
If you aren't a fan of bacon, you could also use pancetta, ham or sweet Italian sausage. To make the sauce a little richer, be more generous with the cheese while mixing the spaghetti and eggs together. If you are looking for a lighter taste, add one cup of dried white wine as well.
Traditional pesto sauce starts with one very important ingredient: basil. Fresh basil is abundant around farmers markets and can also be found in any local grocery store. If you do purchase fresh basil to kick off your pesto sauce, you can stick the remaining basil leaves in a cup of water to keep them from drying out. |
