Simple Low Fat Crockpot Recipes

The beauty of low fat crockpot recipes is the fact that you can start a meal hours before you plan to eat it, and you're still eating something healthy. Crockpot cooking also a great way to cook meat until it is tender enough to fall off the bone, which is always a delight. Try these low fat crockpot recipes for your next Sunday afternoon meal, and you'll be glad you did.

Low Fat Crockpot Chili
Ingredients You Will Need:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
2 pounds ground turkey
1 large can tomato sauce
1 large can diced tomatoes
2 packages chili seasoning
½ cup brown sugar
1 can dark red kidney beans
1 can light red kidney beans
1 can chickpeas (garbanzo beans)

In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion. Add ground turkey and brown until cooked completely. Pour browned ground turkey and onions into a strainer, and allow excess fat to drain into sink.

Pour tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chili seasoning packs and brown sugar into crockpot, and mix well. Pour cans of kidney beans and chickpeas, including liquid, into the crockpot. Mix well again. Add browned turkey and onions into crockpot and stir once more. Cover and cook on high for between two hours and all day. Serve with toasted pita bread, low fat cheese and low fat sour cream.

Low Fat Crockpot Barbeque Chicken
Ingredients You Will Need:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, diced
1 large can tomato sauce
¼ cup A1 sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon barbeque flavoring
1 cup brown sugar
1 pound boneless skinless chicken breast
1 package barbeque sandwich buns

In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onion. Pour sauted onion into bottom of crock pot. Add tomato sauce, A1 sauce, Worcestershire sauce, barbeque flavoring, brown sugar and chicken breast. Cover and cook for between two hours and five hours. When chicken is falling apart, tear to pieces with a fork, and mix with sauce. Serve on buns.
