It's all about the seasonings when it comes to making a delicious ground beef taco recipe. You can find packaged Mexican seasoning in the local grocery store or supermarket. If you don't want to use something store-bought, you can spice up your meat with some fresh garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, chili powder and cumin.
Ground Beef Taco Recipe
Ingredients You Will Need:
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 ½ pounds ground beef
Salt, pepper to taste
1 package Mexican taco seasoning
1 package taco shells (hard or soft)
1 tomato, sliced
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 cup shredded cheese
Start by heating the olive oil in a medium-sized sauce pan. Sauté the onion and garlic for about 4 minutes. Add in the ground beef, and let simmer for another 5 minutes or so. Sprinkle the meat with the salt, pepper and a package of Mexican Taco seasoning. Make sure the beef is combined completely with the seasoning. Let simmer for another 5 minutes or so. Now, you'll want to drain the meat to get rid of any excess water.
Scoop the meat mixture into the taco shells. Top each taco with sliced tomato, shredded lettuce and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. You can serve tacos with a side of rice and beans. Place a spoonful of sour cream and guacamole on the side as well.
Homemade Seasoning
If you use to make your ground beef taco recipe from scratch, you'll want to make your own seasoning. It's extremely simple: Just add these ingredients while the ground beef is simmering in the pan. You'll need ½ teaspoon of garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon of onion powder, a pinch of dried oregano, ½ teaspoon of ground cumin, ¼ teaspoon paprika and pinches of salt and pepper. If you'd like to make it hotter, add a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce.
With the right ingredients in the right proportions, a taco salad can serve as a main course at your next meal. |
