A basic macaroni and cheese casserole can be created with few ingredients. Add cheese, pasta, cracker crumbs, a little milk and butter and one package of sausage links and buns, and you have a complete meal.
Macaroni and Cheese Casserole
Ingredients You Will Need:
1 8-ounce box pasta (use fun shapes)
1 8-ounce package sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 8-ounce package Colby cheese, shredded
1 can tomato soup, undiluted
1 8-ounce package mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 large tomatoes, sliced
Salt and pepper
4 slices garlic bread, thawed
Make the pasta according to the box directions, adding salt while it boils. Separate the cooked noodles into two bowls. Add the sharp cheddar cheese to the first bowl and the Colby cheese to the second bowl. Mix well, cover to retain the heat and set aside.
Pour the can of tomato soup in a casserole dish, and spread evenly. Pour the pasta and Colby cheese mixture into the pan, and spread evenly. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the top, and then add the sliced tomatoes. Salt and pepper the tomatoes, and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over top. Spread the cheddar cheese pasta over the top of that and then, using a pair of kitchen shears, cut the garlic bread into cubes, and place the cubes across the top of the pasta.
Cover the baking dish with foil, and place it into an oven that has been preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake for about 20 minutes, and then remove the foil and broil for about 3 minutes or until the garlic toast has browned.
For variation, try adding a layer of chopped ham or frozen peas.
Fried macaroni and cheese may sound strange and decadent, but the combination of a crunchy crust and gooey interior is tough to resist. |
Crock pot macaroni and cheese is not as easy to prepare as the regular boxed macaroni and cheese. However, the flavors of the macaroni and cheese blend beautifully in a crock pot. |
