Combine the following ingredients in a large bowl and set aside: oats, cheese, breadcrumbs, spices and breadcrumbs. Mix well and set aside. In a large skillet, heat about half the oil. When the oil is hot, add the mushrooms, onions and garlic and cook for about ten minutes. Mushrooms generally release liquid so make sure you cook them until they have done so. Mix all ingredients together into bun-sized patties. Fry the patties as if you were frying a hamburger-about five minutes per side-and serve when golden brown. These veggie burgers are absolutely delicious. Serve with any toppings you would serve on a hamburger.

For another variation, try adding some hot sauce. Start with one small jalapeno or one small Hungarian pepper. Mince the hot pepper in a food processor to protect yourself from being burned by the fumes.
