The U.T.I. begins in your urinary system. The urethra, ureters, kidneys and bladder all make up the urinary system. These parts are all involved in the process that rids your body of waste. Most urinary tract infections are caused by bacteria being introduced into the urinary tract through the urethra. The bacteria then begin to multiply in the bladder. The bladder and the urethra are the most common infection sites, however infected areas can include any part of the urinary system. The kidneys can become infected causing a more serious health issue. A kidney infection or (pyeloneritis). The symptoms of a kidney infection can quickly become intensely pain-full. Not all infections come with symptoms.

A Kidney infection is a little different, blood samples may be needed for this.

Simple treatments are available for a urinary tract infection. Bladder infection treatments usually consist of a three or seven day course treatment of antibiotics dependingng on the physician. Infections sometimes are critical enough a longer treatment of medication is needed. Kidney infections could mean fluids through I.V. and or an injection of antibiotics.

U.T.I.s are more common in females because of a shorter urethra. Sexually active women tend to experience more infections due to intercourse irritating the urethra.
