10 of the Best Cardio Exercises and Workout Options

 In order to lose weight and stay in shape, cardio work is a must. In this area of fitness and exercise, however, you have a number of choices. While this is not an exhaustive list, these represent some of the best forms of cardio exercise available, in no order.

  1. Running
  2. Running is one of the best ways to burn calories. Perfectly integrated into the gym with hills and sprints, running is also a low-maintenance exercise with a good pair of shoes and a sense of adventure. Running can however be tough on your knees and ankles.

  3. Cross-Country Skiing
  4. Using both your upper and lower body, cross-country skiing is a great and intense exercise. You can also do this at the gym or out in the real snow.

  5. Elliptical Trainer
  6. For those who are slow to accept some of the wear and tear of other forms of exercise, the elliptical trainer is a top choice to protect joints. It is also a great choice at developing endurance and burning calories.

  7. Bicycling
  8. For building power in the legs and burning calories, bicycling is a dynamic choice to exercise indoors and outdoors.
