If you’re looking for aerobic exercise, you’ll find many different forms of exercise are possible. It’s easy to fit the recommended 30 minutes of aerobic exercise into your day by trying a variety of different types of exercise. You can join a sports team or explore individual sport activities. You can join a fitness club and use the machines or try sports that don’t utilize fitness equipment. Try these different forms of aerobic exercise to discover which exercise works best for you.

High Calorie Burning Aerobic Exercise
If you want to burn a lot of calories fast without using any fitness equipment, try going for a run. Running can be done just about anywhere at almost anytime. All you need is a pair of running shoes and a safe place to run. Other high calorie burning activities are high-intensity swimming, cross-country skiing and fast-paced basketball.

Low Calorie Burning Aerobic Exercise
If you’re new to exercise and want to work your way into it, it’s best to start with easier forms of exercise. Leisurely swimming, slow-paced biking and walking are all excellent ways to burn some calories while working your way into more intense exercise programs. For example, if you want to become a runner, try a run-walk plan. Start out by walking for a minute, then running for 30 seconds. When you’re ready to take on more of a challenge, you can try walking for 45 seconds, then running for 45 seconds. Work your way along this program until you can run without switching to walking at all.

Organized Sports Teams
If you need the motivation of competition and the distraction of a game, you can join a sports team. Softball, baseball, football, hockey, tennis, racquetball, squash, lacrosse, broomball and volleyball can all be competitive ways to get your aerobic exercise in each week. Make sure you take an active role on the team and move around as much as you can. Don’t take a backseat on the team; keep in mind why you joined: to get as much exercise as possible while having fun.

Independent Activities
If you’re interested in pursuing sports but don’t like the pressure of a team, you can try a variety of independent sports. Biking, swimming, kayaking and running are all excellent aerobic exercise options. For motivation, sign up for races. Work your way up the race lengths, starting with 5Ks or sprint triathlons. As you get stronger and more fit, challenge yourself to longer and harder races. Keep track of your race times; challenge yourself to beat your past race times.
