Self Confidence Building Tips

self confidence 2

Self confidence building is a skill to be learned like any other.  Bit by bit, with time and work, you will slowly see your self esteem and general outlook on life improve. The key, of course, is to take the time to really develop your self esteem. The following tips will help you develop self confidence.

When developing self esteem, you need to remember your positive qualities and strengths. Thus, one of the first things you need to do is to write down a list of the things that you are good at and the things you like about yourself. Once you have this list, place is somewhere you are sure to see: next to a mirror, in your planner or journal or on the refrigerator are all great places.

Stay as busy as possible if you want to work on building self confidence. Often, folks with low self esteem dwell on past mistakes or the things that could go wrong if they left joined a club, a gym, or made plans with friends, family members or coworkers. Instead, if you keep yourself busy with things you are interested in, you will have less time to dig a hole for yourself. The busier you are, the easier it is to look forward to the future rather than having a pity party for the past.

When developing self esteem, it pays to trick yourself into confidence. Pretend you are in someone else's shoes – a friend or famous celebrity – and try to act like them throughout the day. This doesn't mean talking in a cartoon voice. Instead, it means walking with more confidence, pretending as though you have climbed Mount Everest, slipping on a leather jacket or especially nice dress, and smiling or whistling wherever you go. Changing your persona from time to time can give you more confidence when you are out in public.

Similarly, you need to take care of yourself if you want to build self confidence. Thus, take the time to groom yourself in the morning, to buy yourself proper work clothing, and to indulge in a massage, pedicure, or haircut once a month. Often, new clothes often do make the man, or at least, give the man some spring to his step when walking through a crowded hallway.
