Infomercials Are Fat With Half-Truths

By: bill_teddington

The television lied to you. Why are you so surprised? Those late night commercials dedicated to removing your belly fat are just a money making scheme. The truth is that no matter how much resistance you put against a sit up, it won't make your tummy any thinner. In fact, the effort is more likely to make your pouch look even bigger. Sit ups are meant more for building muscle than burning calories, which means that the stomach muscles are actually going to become larger without putting much of a dent in the stomach fat. It's shocking, I know. All that wasted time on the floor, straining your back and staring at the problem gut.

Running does not make your legs thinner. Butt clenches don't make your butt smaller. Why be surprised that sit ups do not make your stomach thinner. You can't spot reduce fat you can only spot tone muscles. Strength training that is advertised one late night infomercials is not what an overweight person needs to lose the extra tummy fat. Cardiovascular exercise burns more calories than strength training. Walking, jogging, jumping jacks, skipping rope, or any other activity that will raise the heart rate for an extended period of time is good for losing weight.

Substitute exercise for a snack. Many people eat because they are bored instead of heading straight for the delicious bag of chips, go for a walk around the neighborhood. If you are hungry when you get back it is ok to get a small bowl. There is nothing wrong with working out so you can eat something later, but don't make deals the other way. Exercise can lead to a snack, but it doesn't work the other way.

The key to getting rid of the weight is making sure that you use more calories every day tan you take in. Professional Football players take in an enormous amount of calories, but they spend so many calories in daily exercise that they do not struggle with weight problems. If a person is unable to spend enough time in exercise to burn more calories than they are eating, then it is a sign they are absorbing too many calories. People need to change their diet. Eat healthier or eat less.
