3 Day Fasting Cleanse

A 3 day fasting cleanse is a great way to energize yourself at any time of the year. Using a body cleansing fast gives you instant results, and may help you shed some of those unwanted pounds. After cleansing, you will feel energetic and ready to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Benefits of Fasting
A body cleansing fast eliminates toxins from the body and readjusts your blood sugar levels. All cleansing programs are designed to work in a short time period.

Although the main goal of the cleanse diet is to rid your body of toxins to prepare for a long-term diet and exercise program, there are some people who find that a cleansing diet helps with conditions such as depression, fibromyalgia and irritable bowel syndrome.

Types of Cleansing Fasts
As there are many versions of the body cleansing fast, it is important to evaluate all them and choose the one that best suits you. No matter which version you choose, they all involve the same process, which is eating a modified diet, taking herbal supplements and avoiding toxins for the course of the cleanse.

During the cleansing process, you must avoid certain foods. The list includes caffeine, soda, chocolate, refined foods, sugar and alcohol. In addition, if you smoke, you should refrain from smoking during the body-cleansing regime.

Another important component of all the diets is water. No matter what type of diet you choose, you will drink large amounts of purified water. This serves two purposes: to help flush the toxins from your body, and to keep you from dehydrating.

Often referred to as detox diets, cleansing diets detoxify the body. Detoxification removes toxins and other harmful substances primarily from the liver, but also from the entire body.

The primary purpose of the liver is to filter toxins from the body, but it can become overworked and less efficient. A clogged liver causes you to feel sluggish and tired. You become prone to colds, headaches and allergy attacks, and you may have trouble sleeping. Once cleared out and functioning properly, your entire body will feel rejuvenated.

Here is a list of the most popular body cleansing fasts:

  • The Lemonade Diet: Also known as the Master Cleanse Diet. It uses a drink of fresh lemon juice with a dash of cayenne pepper, a tablespoon of pure maple syrup and purified hot water.
  • The Grapefruit Diet: Citrus fruit is a great detoxifier. The grapefruit diet adds a piece of citrus fruit to the beginning of each meal.
  • The Cabbage Soup Diet: This diet revolves solely around cabbage. It appears in every meal.
  • A 24-Hour Cleanse: There are several versions of this diet, but they all focus on eating unprocessed, raw fruit and veggies along with brown rice, tofu and almonds and drinking plenty of water.
  • 3-day Cleanse: This is a longer version of the 24-hour cleanse. It also focuses on raw, unprocessed foods.

As with any diet plan, there are some side effects. Depending on the intensity of your cleansing diet, you may experience nausea, diarrhea, cramps, headache, lethargy and fatigue. If you experience these symptoms, stop fasting and return to your regular diet.
