Fat Burning Foods That Are Also Good for You

By: Laura Evans

The nice thing about fat burning foods is that they are all good for you. Once you are including fat burning foods in your diet, your dietary choices become that much easier. The biggest issue at that point becomes meeting the need to vary enough so that you cover all of your nutritional bases while not getting bored with your meals.

Fish
You should strive to eat fish at least three times a week. Salmon, for instance, is high in protein and rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-three fatty acids can lower the amount of triglycerides in your bloodstream as well as help reduce your risk of developing cancer.

Citrus
Citrus fruits, such as oranges, grapefruits, tangerines and lemons, are another category of good fat burning foods. Citrus fruits are all high in vitamin C and natural fibers. The sweeter citrus fruits can be part of a fruit salad dessert to take care of your sweet tooth while still staying on your weight loss program.

Watermelon
Throw some watermelon into that fruit salad. Watermelon is not only fat free, but also high in vitamin C, low in calories and low in sodium. By the way, watermelon is actually a vegetable, not a fruit!

Beans
Speaking of vegetables, don't forget to include beans in your diet. You can enjoy not only green beans, but lima, navy or white beans. Beans are high in protein while low in calories; they are also are rich in fiber and iron.

Dairy
Calcium is an important mineral that helps fight osteoporosis. In addition, if you eat a diet that is rich in calcium, you are more likely to loose and keep off weight. Dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cottage cheese are terrific sources for calcium. However, you might want to get the low or non-fat varieties to avoid eating that extra fat. In addition, other fat burning foods such as tofu, kale and figs contain calcium.
