The most common mistake people make when moving their pool table is treating it like an old couch or sofa bed. A pool table cannot be moved like a piece of misfit furniture. Chances are you'll break some part of the table in the process and possibly bend or warp the surface, making it uneven and unplayable. Or worse, you could severely injure yourself.

You need to be disassemble the table first then reassemble it in its new location. Disassembling the pool table is the easiest part. Reassembling it is the challenge. This is where a professional should be called in. Unfortunately, a service like this doesn't come cheap.

The Challenge of it All
Reassembling a pool table is a challenge because you must level it. Getting the table level is the hardest part. That is why it is important when deciding on a spot for your pool table; choose wisely, because a pool table should be put in a location where it will remain unmoved. Constant assembling and disassembling could result in an uneven table, which makes playing conditions miserable. However, there is a way if you want to try it on your own. Hopefully you're mechanically inclined or you have friend that is.

So, You Want to Move a Pool Table
First, have the proper tools for the job. A flat head screwdriver, staple puller, some strong friends and a good size pickup truck are essential. Next, you're going to pull the staples out of the pocket straps and remove the bolts from underneath the rails. Once this is done, slide the rails out and flip the table over. This is where your strong friends come in handy. When that is done, it is safe to remove the pockets. The felt needs to be removed next. It will be either stapled or glued on. If it is glued on, be gentle when taking the felt off. No need to spend more on new felt. Next, take the slate off from the frame and then the legs. Now, all the pieces are ready to be wrapped up and loaded safely into the proper sized truck or moved to the other room. The last step is reassembling the table and leveling it. This will take lots of patience, so be prepared and good luck.

Just a reminder though, there are professionals ready to do the job right and in a timely fashion.
