How to Make a Coin Vanish

Knowing how to make a coin vanish is important for any self-respecting magician. You won't have to invest in a lot of magic supplies in order to perform many versions of this trick.

How to Make a Coin Vanish: Glass and Coin Trick

In order to perform this trick, you should use a table covered with a white tablecloth. You will also need a glass, a handkerchief and a coin, plus a little paper. The handkerchief that you use will have to completely cover the glass.

In order to prep for this, glue a perfectly fitted piece of white paper to the rim of a glass. Have the table prepared beforehand so that the rim-with-paper glass is rim down on the table.

Ask someone to volunteer a coin. Place the coin on the table next to the glass. Cover the glass with the handkerchief. Say your magic as you move the handkerchief-glass over to top the coin. Pull off the handkerchief and the coin will appear to be gone. Put the handkerchief back over the glass, say your magic, move the glass and the coin will have reappeared.

In fact, the coin will never have moved at all. It was simply blocked from view by the paper on the rim of your glass.

How to Make a Coin Disappear: Snap Vanish

In order to perform this trick, you will need to know how to snap your fingers on both hands at the same time, using your thumb and index fingers.

Ask a volunteer for a coin. Place the coin on a table. Wave your hands over the coin, making sure that you show the palms of your hands before you do the trick and after the coin has disappeared. When you snap your fingers, one of your index fingers will actually push the coin off of the table at the end of the snap. The coin will "disappear" to the floor.
