How to Win at Roulette

By: Maeve Rich

If you want to learn how to win at roulette, there are a few strategies that you can follow. Keep them in mind and be patient when you go to the casino. Remember that the house has the edge, so make sure that you play smart.

Keep in mind that there are two types of roulette wheels. The European roulette wheel has 37 numbers ranging from 0-36. The American roulette wheel has an additional number, the 00. While it may not seem like a big deal, that extra number nearly doubles the house's edge. Whenever you have the option, choose to play the European, or 0 wheel.

A lot of gambling is luck. Good feelings, instinct and a "hot" table are all good things to go by. The way you can tell if a table is considered hot is to look at the last numbers that have come up. You want a couple of the same numbers to have come up several times.

One strategy is to spread your bets out on nine different numbers (preferably numbers that are hot). You can use this strategy provided you win at least once out of every four rounds and stay ahead.

You can also help that there is something wrong with the wheel, something small and unnoticeable to virtually everyone else (especially the casino). Sometimes as a wheel gets older, it will tilt or have something else which will make it lean towards making one number come up more often than others. You can either watch the roulette wheel for awhile and hope to notice this, or you can pay attention to people who are playing and winning (perhaps they've found the trick).

Whenever your table goes cold, move on. Remember that gambling is all about luck and if you're not feeling lucky anymore, it's time to quit.
