Make an Origami Dog

Of all the origami crafts, one of the easiest, most rewarding to make is the origami dog. The origami dog is so popular because of its easy folds and the near-universal love affair that people have with canines.

Origami paper works best for this project, but construction or other types of sturdy paper will also work well. Origami paper can be purchased at your local craft or art stores, and there are a variety of styles and colors to choose from.

When making an origami dog, start with a square piece of paper.

1. Place the colored side down on the table. Fold the square on the diagonal so that it becomes a triangle. 

2. Fold the triangle in half so there is a line down the center, which will be used as a guide for the ears. Unfold the triangle.

3. Fold the left and right corners of the triangle down to make ears, using the center line as a guide.

4. The bottom triangle can be folded back. Draw eyes, nose and a mouth. The dog is complete.

This origami craft is great for a beginner to origami art because it only has a few basic steps. If you want to customize your origami dog, you can experiment with your paper textures and colors. The dog can also be embellished with other craft items to give it a more personalized feel.
