Age of the Party-Goers:
The guests attending a video scavenger hunt party must be old enough to work a video camera, or you need to have designated videographers to go with each group on the scavenger hunt. Decide whether you will have your scavenger hunting groups driving around town or staying near your neighborhood.
Gather the Video Cameras:
You will need one working video camera for each group. Even older video cameras that take VHS tapes or others will work, as long as you have the equipment to get that video to play on your television, so that everyone can view it later. Make sure each camera has enough battery life to last the duration of the assignment, and make sure there is a fresh tape, blank DVD, or enough room on the SD card to capture everything the group will have to do for the scavenger hunt.
Make the List:
You get to be a bit more creative for the video scavenger hunt, because they will have the ability to capture sound, motion, and whatever crazy things the group has to do. Here are some examples, and don't be afraid to get really creative:
If your party has a theme, try to focus the activities on the group's theme. For example, if it's a birthday party, you can have them sing a "Happy Birthday" song to someone in their group in the middle of a busy store. If it's a Christmas party, have them go caroling somewhere. Use your imagination!
When everyone returns, you have to watch the videos before you can declare a winner. Watching the videos should be as fun, or funnier, than the scavenger hunt itself, but keep in mind that the video scavenger hunt may take most of an evening. Have prizes for whichever group completed the most scavenger hunt tasks, and it would also be nice to have something for the other participants.
Looking for some party games for large groups that won't make your guests groan? Party planning for a large group is stressful and, while playing games can be a blast, the wrong games can bring the fun to a screeching halt. |
My son and I just finished making birthday party invitations for his second birthday party. I was astonished at the price of pre-made invitations. I have always made my own greeting cards, rather than pay $3-$6 per card, so I decided that together we could make the invitations for his birthday party. |
