By: Denise Oliveri

Create fun and simple Christmas arts crafts with your kids during the cold winter months. This Christmas tree is so much fun to make. It is brimming with Christmas spirit, and adds just the right touch to your holiday decorating. This would make a wonderful Christmas gift that a young child could give to someone special.

Craft Difficulty Rating: Average

You Will Need:

  • 3" clay pot
  • 2" clay pot
  • 1 1/2" clay pot
  • Green acrylic paint
  • Paintbrush
  • Clear polyurethane spray
  • Glue
  • Sequins
  • 1 small yellow pompom
  • Small piece yellow foam
  • 12" length of string (decorative color)

Instructions:

  1. Layer the clay pots on top of each other, largest to smallest, to create a tree shape. Paint the clay pots all the same color of green. You do not need to paint the insides of the pots. Let them dry.
  2. After the paint dries (which takes about 30 to 60 minutes), spray the tree with clear polyurethane spray. Spray either outside or in a well-ventilated environment. The polyurethane will protect the paint and give the tree a terrific shine. Let this dry.
  3. Once the polyurethane has dried, wrap the length of string around the Christmas tree to represent garland. Using a silver, gold or green-colored string seems most appropriate, but you can use your imagination.
  4. Glue sequins to the tree for ornaments. Let dry.
  5. Cut a star shape from a piece of yellow foam and glue a yellow pompom in the center of the star to top the tree. Glue to the top of the tree, or stick one end of the star into the hole of the top clay pot.
  6. Your tree is now ready to display.
