Making ornaments is a great project for groups as well. There are many easy to do ideas for Christmas ornaments that you can make with kids, even if you aren't all that crafty. Here are some fun ideas to try.

Decorated Christmas Balls
Purchase plain colored Christmas balls. These can be turned into beautiful custom made Christmas ornaments with some permanent markers, ribbon and fancy trim. Simply glue on ribbon and trim in a pleasing pattern - using craft glue - then write the persons name or the year on the ball.

Another easy idea is to purchase clear Christmas balls at a craft store that are designed to be filled. Put in tinsel, glitter, small Christmas trinkets. Again, you can add decorative trim.

Cookie & Baked Ornaments
Kids love to bake, and Christmas cookies can be turned into fun ornaments that can go on the Christmas tree. Stained glass cookies are beautiful when hung on the tree with their hard candy centers. Gingerbread men will give off a wonderful smell when the warmth from the lights heat them slightly. Applesauce and cinnamon clay make fantastic scented ornaments that can be cut into any shape and decorated in any way you like. Baked ornaments can even be sprayed with a sealing shellac to preserve them for future years. Be sure and poke a hole into the top of the cookie with a straw to allow a ribbon to go through for hanging.
