How to Make a Childrens Handprint Christmas Memory Plate

Things You Will Need:

  *  Salad plate

  *  Red or green construction paper

  *  Scissors

  *  Pencil 

  *  Tacky or clear drying school glue

  *  Paint brush

  *  Glitter, sequins, ribbons, bows, rhinestones (if desired)

  *  Decorative plate holder

  *  Flat ribbon

          or

  *  High temp hot glue gun/glue  

Place the child's hand on the chosen colored of construction paper.  

Trace the child's hand using the pencil.

Cut the handprint out using the scissors. 

Glue the handprint to the center of the front of the salad plate.

Cover the entire surface of the handprint with a thin layer of glue, applied with the paint brush.  Allow to dry.

Display:
The plate(s) can be displayed by: being placed in a standard decorative plate holder or by glueing a 6 inch long piece of flat ribbon folded in half and the two ends glued  together, then glued to the back of the plate using high temp hot glue and glue gun.

Customizing:
The handprint can be customized be adding a name and date to the handprint using an ink pen or marker: do this prior to sealing with the glue covering. Doing this will help to preserve the memory that the handprint will hold.

Decorating:
The plate(s) can be decorated according to taste using items such as;  glitter, bows, cut-out construction paper designs, ribbons, rhinestones, sequins, and any other glueable decorations.
