How to Save Money on Christmas Shopping

By: h6domagalski

It's a fairly simple concept, DIY ( Do it yourself ). We tend to forget that its not about how much money we spend, but rather how much time and effort is put forth into a gift. When we were younger the concept was just handed to us, while we made gifts for our parents in class. Now that we're older we just throw the uniqueness away, but here's the thing family, and friends like heart felt gifts. So if you have any inkling of a creative bone left in your body these tips are definitely for you.

Christmas Shopping tips:

  • Start with what you have. If you have any paints, or creative supplies then use them.
  • Go to your nearest Hobby shop, and see if anything hits you. Hobby shops are good for shopping, because they're usually really cheap.
  • Think about what you're best at hobby wise. Whether it be photography, painting, drawing, singing, poetry, etc.
  • Shopping is cheapest during black Friday. Granted you have to be up very early, but it's very worth it in the end.

Examples of things to do:

  • Go to the hobby shop, and get a plain wooden jewelery box, paint it, and then get a DIY music box kit. Thus creating a music box with a song that you can write yourself.
  • Go to target and buy a picture frame (Most dollar stores also carry picture frames). Then go to Kinko's and get one of your pictures printed on glossy paper. On the back of the picture frame you could maybe write a poem. Creating a cool and unique gift.
  • Go to Meijers on black friday (Make sure to scope out what you want in the participating catalog). Get a digital picture frame, put pictures of you, and the person this gift is for in there, and then the background song could be a song that you have written or sung.

Once you figure out what it is that you want to do you'll have a lot of fun making it, and it will definitely mean a lot to whomever gets it. Most important part is to have fun in the season of giving. Happy shopping.
