Adult Christmas Games

Are you looking for fun adult Christmas games to keep your guests amused at your holiday party? Christmas Parties are always more fun when you put in the effort to keep guests mingling and laughing. Organizing a few party games can do just that! Check out these Christmas party ideas, to make your next holiday party truly memorable.

Caroling Buddies
For this game, you need a minimum of 16 players and an even number of participants. The more players you have, the more fun and challenging this game will be.

Before the party, write the titles of popular Christmas carols on small strips of paper. You will need to write each song twice, and make sure you have the same number of paper strips as players. Place all the paper strips in a bowl or hat, and have each player draw one, but not show it to anyone else. Once all the strips have been drawn, the host signals everyone to start singing their own Christmas carol, all at the same time. Guests keep singing while walking around, trying to find the person singing the same carol as them. The first two people to find their caroling buddy win.

Don't Say It!
Before the party, make a list of about six holiday-themed words, such as snowman, stocking, fruitcake, etc. Post these words in a few places around the house, where you're sure they'll be seen. As your guests arrive, give each of them a jingle bell, and inform them that the words posted around the house are the Forbidden Words that cannot be spoken during the party. Anyone caught saying the forbidden words must hand their bell over to the person who catches them. The guest with the most bells at the end of the night wins.

The Minister's Cat
Anyone who has watched the favorite holiday film Scrooge is familiar with The Minister's Cat, an old Victorian parlor game. Give a little nod to Christmas past by playing this game with your party guests.

All players sit in a circle, and clap in unison. Players take turns around the circle, describing the minister's cat with an adjective following the letters of the alphabet, saying their description in rhythm with the clapping. For example, the first player might begin by saying, "The Minister's Cat is an angry cat." Then the next person says, "The Minister's cat is a beautiful cat." If someone breaks the rhythm or can't think of a word, they are out. Play continues until there is only one person left. If you make it all the way through the alphabet, start again at A, but do not repeat any words. Repeating a word that's already been used also gets a player out.

Of course, games are more fun with prizes. Pick up a few fun holiday gifts to give out to the winners, or have some tins of homemade cookies ready for the winners to share.
