Do you need fresh floral centerpieces for a wedding, shower or anniversary event? They are easier and less expensive to put together than you might think. Each of these ideas builds off the basics of a vase, fresh flowers and some accents.
Citrus Floral Centerpiece
Fresh fruit has gained in popularity, with florists putting them in their floral arrangements. For a simple centerpiece you can make at home, gather 3 lemons and 3 limes. Make sure that they are not bruised on the outside. Then place them into the bottom of a short, square vase. Take your arrangement of flowers, and cut the stems short enough to have only the top of the flower peeking out of the vase. Roses or tulips will work perfectly in this type of arrangement. Fill the vase up with water, but don't overfill it, as the lemons and limes will take up most of the space. You can also cut thick lemon and lime slices to line the vase if you aren't interested in putting in the entire piece of fruit or are looking to conserve space.
Floating Candles And Rose Petals
You'll need to purchase a round bowl to hold your floating votive candles. Fill it up most of the way with water. Then scatter rose petals in the bowl, and add in the votive candles. Light the candles only about 15 minutes before guests are expected to arrive.
Springtime Flower Centerpiece
Springtime centerpiece ideas are perfect for Mother's Day or Easter celebrations. Find a nice basket around 5 inches high. (It could be larger if you prefer to make a larger basket). Then you'll want to line the bottom of the basket with either colorful towel paper or some sort of plastic liner. Invest in some floral foam, in which you stick the flower stems. Choose a foam that is made specifically for fresh plants because they will hold water. Then, pick up spring flowers in beautiful colors, and start arranging them in the foam. Cover up any visible foam that remains with Spanish moss. Tie a nice piece of colorful ribbon on the outside of the basket for the finishing touch.
Cheap centerpiece ideas mean more than throwing a handful of leaves or knickknacks on a table. The trick to cheap, yet lovely centerpieces is to get your hands a little bit dirty. |
