Roses Aren't The Only Flowers For Love

By: Caroline Roberts

When a guy needs to give a woman something for a special occasion, he picks up roses. No woman in her right mind will turn down roses, but, if you want to make an impression on her, a rose will make you look like a wallflower. What are some alternatives that can help your love take root?

Luckily, roses aren't the only flowers that indicate romance. The language of flowers is full of nuances, and a different flower can represent a different sentiment.

Forget-Me-Nots: The name says it all. These little flowers may be blue, but she will feel anything but if you give her a cluster of them.

Daisies: She may have been plucking the petals of a daisy, saying, "He loves me / He loves me not." Give her daisies, and she'll know how exactly how you feel. A multicolored cluster of gerbera daisies will certainly dazzle her and cheer her up.

Orchids: A flower perfect for the early stages of a relationship, as this flower indicates ecstasy. The orchid also brings with it connotations of luxury, so it may be perfect if you are giving flowers as the prelude to Valentine's or birthday events.

Pansies: Another good one for the start of a relationship, as Cupid's arrow accidentally struck a pansy. Shakespeare's Ophelia also said, "There is pansies, that's for thoughts." Even though her relationship with Hamlet didn't exactly end well, the sentiment is the same-pansies show that she is on your mind.

Tulips: Like the rose, a tulip represents a statement of love. However, the red tulip one-ups the rose in that it refers to a "perfect love." If you really want to flatter her, give her variegated tulips, which let her know you think she has beautiful eyes.

Violets: She will love the smell of violets as much as she loves how they look. As your relationship deepens, give violets, which indicate faithfulness, commitment and even modesty.
