Valentine's Day crafts let kids show those they love how much they mean to them. Even better, they help kids release a little creative energy after being cooped up indoors during the winter. Here are some ideas for your kids to enjoy.
Valentine's Day Cards
One of the easiest crafts that your kids can make is homemade Valentine's Day cards. They can hand them out at school and give them to family members. It's not necessary to waste money on the boring store-bought Valentine's cards when your kids can make their own.
Begin by helping your kids cut out large hearts for the cards. The hearts can be cut from red and pink construction paper or cardstock. Decorate the front of the heart with sequins, yarn, stickers, glitter and ribbon. Each Valentine card will be different and special. An individual note written on the back, or inside, of the card and signed by the youngster completes the card.
Valentine's Day Card Holder
Valentine's Day ideas aren't limited to cards and candy. Everyone needs something to put their cards and candy in to carry home. Why not make your own tote? Begin this easy craft with a brown paper bag. Staple ribbons, or yarn, to the top edge of the bag to make handles. You can also cut strips from another brown paper bag, fold them in half and staple them in place. The Valentine's bag can be decorated with sequins, foam hearts, crayons, ribbons, stickers and glitter.
Make Your Own Valentine Treat Bags
Your kids can create unique treat bags to go with the Valentine's cards that they give to friends. Begin by selecting candy kisses, chocolates or conversation hearts to place in the Valentine goodie bags. You can purchase pink or red tulle by the yard from any craft or fabric store. Cut the tulle into squares to craft the treat bags. Next, lay a square of the tulle on a flat surface. In the middle of the square, place a small mound of candy. Then gather up the tulle square by the corners, and tie them together with a pretty red ribbon. Your kids will enjoy making these fun Valentine's kids crafts, and you will enjoy spending time with your kids.
