Set The Mood For Valentine's Day

With the most romantic holiday of the year approaching, you may be wondering how you can make this year special for your special someone even in this dreary economy. Love is timeless. Love does not care what the unemployment statistics are right now. Love wants to know that it is not unrequited.

Love only wants to be loved in return. 

Now, that may sound unimaginative and trite, but it's true. 

You may think your lover wants the chocolates or the flowers, but what your lover really wants is to be loved in a way that shouts to the whole world, "My lover loves me and to prove it this is what my love did!"

So, now that you have reached the not so tender age of middle aged, how does one do that without taking out a second mortgage?

It's all in your technique for setting the mood. You really only have to show your lover that you care enough to do something! 

Flowers, in most cases will captivate your lover. Does your love care that they came from the most expensive on-line floral delivery service? What really matters more: having the flowers or where the flowers came from? Most local food stores carry a very nice selection of flowers in the produce section. 

Don't just grab a bunch of flowers and shove them at your love! Take them out of the plastic sleeve (especially if it has the store sticker with the price attached!), dry them gently and re-wrap them in something simple but less cheesy. If you want to get an extra few points, take two floral bunches and combine them into one beautiful bunch of happy flowers to show your love you care!

The candy... that's such a ... touchy thing these days.  Fat, calories, sugar, carbs...

Tell your love you don't care! Today is special and unless your love is a seriously managed diabetic, go for the candy because it represents how sweet your lover is to you! If your love is a seriously managed diabetic, go that extra mile and find the sugar free chocolates! Yes, there are many varieties out there! 

Now, seriously, you may have the flowers and the candy all lined up but now, now is the most important moment! Presentation is everything! 

Imagine this! Your love comes home after a long, hard day to a familiar room that is gently highlighted by the warm glow of candlelight. But, no one has been there to light those warmly glowing, gently scented candles. They seem to have a life of their own, glowing softly, gently by the mantle, the framed photograph of you and your love, or maybe just flickering softly in the powder room.

Before you even have the chance to wield your way into your lover's heart with the light scent of gentle blossoms or the beckoning pull of sugar free dark chocolate, the mood is softened and soothed by the automatic, aromatic battery operated candles you set up the night before. You are in!

Doesn't matter if your lover is allergic to the flowers or the chocolate now, does it?
