Simple Ways to Prevent Global Warming

Looking for simple ways to prevent global warming? Many people find the concept of human-induced global warming to be one of the main threats to life on the planet. Take heart, however. There are many simple ways to prevent global warming.

Seven Simple Ways To Prevent Global Warming

Harmful gasses we introduce into the atmosphere increase global warming. Reducing the amount of energy we consume and the amount of vehicle emissions we produce, is the single biggest contribution we can make in the fight against global warming. The following tips are simple ways to prevent global warming:

  • Buy some efficiency. If you’re replacing appliances, look for energy efficient models. Although the initial cost may be higher, the energy savings alone will more than make up for the difference.
  • Rethink transportation. When you think about your personal transportation, consider energy-saving alternatives. Hybrid and plug-in electrical vehicles can make a big dent in the amount of harmful gasses you and your family contributes to the atmosphere. Public transportation is another great way to cut down on damaging vehicle emissions.
  • What goes around. Take advantage of your local recycling program and use recycled products whenever possible. Recycling reduces landfill waste and takes less energy than creating products from virgin materials.
  • Act locally. Buying products produced locally reduces the transportation burden on the things you buy. Buying locally produced items helps your hometown economy and cuts back on the carbon burden transporting goods requires.
  • Give your house a check up. A home energy audit can pinpoint areas where you can eliminate drafts and increase insulation. Improving the heating and cooling efficiency of your home can save up to 30 percent on your energy bill and significantly reduce the amount of harmful emissions generated by keeping your home comfortable.
  • Maintain your vehicle. Keeping your car in good repair will help improve its efficiency and reduce its emissions. Keep to a regular maintenance schedule, check and maintain your tire pressure and replace all filters (oil, fuel and air) at manufacturer recommended intervals.
  • A simple package. Look for and purchase minimally packaged goods. Products that use as little packaging as possible reduce landfill burdens, shipping impacts and energy costs. Supporting these types of products will encourage other vendors to reduce their packaging.
