Homemade Laminate Floor Cleaner

Homemade laminate floor cleaner can be a lifesaver if you want sparkling floors for little to no cost.

Laminate floors typically look great for years. In fact, many laminate floor manufacturers will provide up to 25-year warranties against wear and tear. Laminate floors are also easy to clean and will look flawless with a simple vacuuming and mopping.

However, because intense cleaning of laminate floors is rarely necessary, manufactured cleaners are usually costly. Floor cleaners that come with mops are expensive, too. Luckily, there are several household ingredients that can be used to make your own cleaner that will work just as well.

Baby Shampoo

Baby shampoo can do more than give infants sweet-smelling locks. Recommended by professional cleaners, mixing two teaspoons of a baby shampoo per gallon of water will create a strong and aromatic cleaner.

Rubbing Alcohol

Rubbing alcohol is also a great product for homemade floor cleaner. Mix eight ounces of the alcohol with 32 ounces of water to create nearly the exact same substance used on Swiffer mop pads.

1/2 a cup of rubbing alcohol mixed with two tablespoons of ammonia, ½ a teaspoon of dish soap and a cup of water is another great recipe.

Though strong-smelling, vinegar is a very effective cleaning agent and can be used in a variety of floor cleaning mixtures. Mixing a tablespoon of vinegar with eight ounces of water in a spray bottle makes a perfect solution for laminate floors.

A recipe of 2 cups vinegar, 2 cups water, 1 cup water and ¼ cup dish soap will make an excellent and efficient cleaner which will also work great on walls and tiled surfaces.

Window Cleaners

You can also use window cleaner, like 409 or Windex, and mix it with an equal portion of water. This serves as a wonderful refill for Wet Mop solution.
